H2 Diary: day 3

Put another 200 miles on the bike today, almost hit 67mph at one point.  Getting familiar with it though, will be much better when I can use the quickshifter and don't have to constantly watch the revs.  Starting to love it!

Pointlessly powerful motorbike time

H2 is here!  Well actually I picked it up yesterday, was too busy tootling about on it to update this. The dealer had one in stock so instant gratification achieved.  I've covered 100 miles on it now, still got another 400 to go with a 4000 RPM limit.  That's about 64mph and I was passed by a fairy dust-powered Kia Picanto on the way to work this morning :(

BORED

I had a day off today, was BORED so decided to go look at bikes.  Finally had a test ride of the Kwak Z1000SX...  In a word... underwhelming.  The riding position is very upright, it feels like a sportsbike with 6" handlebar risers.  I took it around the bendy road to Alton and it felt remote and disconnected, there was no confidence around corners.  Engine is a bit flat and needs more revving than I expected.  Seat is hard. Very disappointed, it looked a perfect fit for me on paper. Took my gripes back to the garage owner, and he said the H2 SX riding position may suit me better.  I replied that it was a lot more money, but he says on PCP the difference isn't massive... An hour later and I've signed up for one!  H2 SX SE, 'cos I loved the quickshifter and fancy TFT dash.  Even got to pick the registration number (from a big list). How very fancy!  I've got a nice hard chair on standby in the garage, which I can sit on and enjoy my buyers remorse at

MX5 rain rail, part 2

Completed this today, but will it be waterproof?  I've left the cover off the car to see.

I have no mouth and I must scream

No, actually I have a REALLY BIG MOUTH FOR SCREAMING. Ooh, that's better. Sorry about that, was just having some new fork oil - this is the old stuff I sicked up, ugh. I hope you like my house, I have Ikea rugs, a TV and a VHS player so I can watch 'Street Hawk' whenever I want, which is cool.  My partner is this Austrian guy who's been staring silently at the wall since October, he's a bit odd and isn't interested in Street Hawk, even when it's really great and Street Hawk smashes some crime.

MX5 rain rail, part 1

Made a start on sorting out the rain rail today.  The rusted panel above the fuel tank confirms it has indeed been leaking... I did try to re-use the old rail but it's shrunk and wouldn't go on. Old rail was made from a section of old hood material, here in all it's glory: The hood sits within this U-shaped drain, which feed into drain holes behind the seat belt towers.  Said holes were blocked with mud and debris, but the aerial mast provided a handy tool for clearing them. As mentioned before, new rain rails are still available from Mazda but cost £174.  A non-OEM is available for about £90 but it doesn't have good reviews, so I bought this instead from Wickes, for £8.50! this is as far as I got before a storm brewed up, looks promising though.
